Wheat Germ Cookies

I had some Wheat Germ lying around so decided to use this recipe which I very slightly adapted from Cookie Madness. I think next time I will chop up my almonds so they are shared more equally among the cookies.

Also, mine look absolutely nothing like the ones on Cookie Madness. Theirs look much nicer. Mine still tasted good but I don’t know why they look so different!

Makes 22-24


  • 4oz Butter
  • 1/2 cup light-brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Wheat Germ
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups Oats
  • 1/3 cup Almonds
  • 1/3 cup Sultanas


  1. Preheat oven to 180˚C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter, and sugards until light and fluffy. Add egg; mix to combine. Mix in vanilla; set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, wheat germ, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Add this mixture to the butter mixture, and stir until mixed. Stir in the oats, followed by the nuts and raisins.
  4. Using a heaping tablespoon measure, shape dough into 24 mounds drop dough onto prepared sheets, about 2 inches apart OR press the mounds down slightly, seal them in a zipper bag and bake them as needed.
  5. Bake until golden and just set, about 13-15 minutes.
